After an extended battle with her mental health, Irish singer Sinéad O’Connor passed away on July 26, 2023. At that time, she was 56 years old. The musician and outspoken political activist was married four times; her previous wedding with a therapist Barry Herridge lasted just over two weeks. She married music producer John Reynolds in 1987; they even worked together on her debut album, “The Lion and the Cobra.” Jake was their only child, and the couple divorced in 1991. Additionally, Sinéad had a son named Yeshua Bonadio with Frank Bonadio and a daughter named Roisin with her lover John Waters. According to our research, O’Connor and Donal Lunny gave birth to Shane O’Connor.

The “Nothing Compares 2 U” singer, who converted to Islam and changed her name to Shuhada’ in 2018, left behind three children who are still alive. Meanwhile, her other son Shane passed away in 2022 at the age of 17. The singer at that moment stated on Twitter that “My beautiful son, Nevi’im Nesta Ali Shane O’Connor, the very light of my life, decided to end his earthly struggle today and is now with God,” the singer announced on Twitter at the time, per the New York Post. Most importantly, Shane, who closely resembled his mother and was also caught in public to receive a second COVID shot months before he passed away, also suffering from clinical depression.

Dealing With Mental Problems:

It has been reported that Sinead O’Connor was struggling with her mental health for a couple of years. And the point of context is she was also diagnosed with multiple psychological disorders like  post-traumatic stress disorder, bipolar and  borderline personality disorder.

One of the important thing to notice is that she was already diagnosed by healthcare professionals with mental problems, narrated by People Magazine. Psychological issues that had been diagnosed were bipolar disorder, complex post-traumatic stress disorder, and borderline personality disorder. O’Connor admitted to trying to kill herself in 1999, according to Rolling Stone, in an interview with Oprah Winfrey. After O’Connor shared what appeared to be a suicide note on her Facebook account in 2015, her admirers started to worry more and more about her well-being.

O’Connor wrote an extended note on her web page in November 2020 declaring her intention to go for therapy. She tweeted at the time, “I had a very traumatic six years and this year was the end of it but now recovery starts,” . She went on to say that she had gone through a great lot of “trauma and abuse” growing up but had never taken the “time to heal” because of it. According to a local news network, she wrote, “He decided to end his earthly struggle and is now with God.”

Jake Reynolds

In 1987, Sinéad O’Connor and John Reynolds welcomed their first child, Jake. At that time, O’Connor was 20 years old and had given birth three weeks prior to the debut album’s release at the time, according to Today. In an interview with People in 2021, O’Connor said Jake worked as a chef in Dublin. 

Talking about his profession, Jake was already enthusiastic to pursue his career in cooking from a very early age of his life. He was coached under the best chef of all times Darina Allen and completed his studies from Ballymaloe Cookery Institute located in Cork, Ireland. Besides working in Dublin, he got the opportunity to serve as a head chef in various places like The Woollen Mills, The Winding Stair, The WasherWoman and The Legal Eagle. He is known for his innovative styles in creating new recipes by blending different cuisines such as Middle Easter, Asian and Mediterranean. 

Roisin Waters

After her marriage to John Reynolds ended, O’Connor had Roisin, her only child, with the journalist John Waters in 1995. Eventually, a custody dispute arose between O’Connor and Waters for Roisin, which Waters ended up winning in 1999, according to MTV News. According to the outlet, after O’Connor attempted suicide, she made the decision to give Waters custody of their daughter.

O’Connor said her daughter had very good vocals indeed but later on she added saying that she was glad Roisin didn’t decide to follow in the legacy of her parents.. “I thought they would treat her like they treat me,” she said. Roisin is seen working as a pastry chef, according to the reports of witnesses. 

She had experienced a number of personal traumas throughout her life, including an abusive relationship with her mother from the early stage of her life. But, on the contrary, her mother was really fond of her kids, which is quite obvious in some interviews and social media’s statements. Many people are curious about her only daughter Roisin Waters now that she has passed away. Shane Lunny

In 2004, O’Connor gave birth to Shane Lunny, who she had with Irish folk musician Donal Lunny. O’Connor described Shane as “a real mommy’s boy” who aspired to pursue a career in music like his mother did in the 2021 People interview.

According to a News channel, O’Connor released a video on Facebook in August 2017 in which she expressed suicide thoughts and that she felt abandoned after losing custody of Shane.In January 2022, Shane was discovered dead, and O’Connor announced on Twitter that he had committed his demise by himself.

Yeshua Bonadio

Now comes the youngest one, Yeshua, O’Connor’s, who was born to her with Frank Bonadio in 2006. According to O’Connor’s 2021 interview with People, Yeshua was considering attending college in the United States. On the other hand, Yeshua was described as being an “incredible musician” by O’Connor who played the piano and had an “incredible singing voice.”
